?Koto peeped back at Shimmer and smiled as he drug an unconscious security officer into the bushes. The hairy man took off the officers ball cap and read it. Knight Errant. The cap read. He slid it on over his greasy hair, and ten went back to searching the officer for more souvenirs.
" I thought KE troopers were supposed to be better than that." He chuckled over the headset. Koto had made short work of the patrolling officer. Quick strike to the throat followed by a few jabs to the solar plexus for effect. Koto was nothing if not flashy.
Shimmer watched the action from a tree near the wall. It was the so-called 'God' position. A lookout spot above the area being covered where a sniper or a mage could work unobstructed. " Stop showboating and get back to your post Koto." He radioed back angrily. " There might be more of them coming."
" Don't worry, you can just blast em with a fireball or something."
" That isn't how magic works Koto."
" Frag it. We'll have plenty of time to see how magic works later." Koto grinned.
" I would prefer tonight's operation not end in a fight. These jobs go the best when done quietly."
" Ain't this job I'm talkin about." Koto whispered away from the comm. He snickered and trotted back towards his post, just under the tree where Shimmer waited.
" I didn't here you. Repeat that?"
" I said, ain't our luck chum. It's gonna haveta get ugly sometime. Things just wouldn't work out any other way."
" Koto, maintain radio silence. The others don't need to hear your smart-ass comments. Do you understand?"
" Yeah boss, I understand." He sure did. Cutter didn't want him to speak too much. He might slip and say something that he shouldn't. Cutter didn't have to worry though. Koto knew that it was far too early to let the cat out of the bag. Still, secrets have a way of wanting to be told, no matter how hard you try to hold them in. And Koto found it real hard to keep quiet about something this big. He was right about one thing. It was going to get ugly.
